Meghalaya involves a fair amount of physical exertion. While Shillong and major tourist spots are easily accessible, the true gems require hiking.
- Easy: Mawlynnong village walk, Dawki boating, Mawsmai Cave (has some tight spots but generally easy).
- Moderate: Trekking to most waterfalls (require descending and ascending steep concrete or stone stairs).
- Challenging: The trek to the Double Decker Root Bridge in Nongriat involves descending over 3,500 steep stone steps and climbing them back up. It requires a good level of fitness and stamina.
