Safety: Meghalaya is incredibly safe, even for solo female travelers. The local Khasi and Garo tribes are matrilineal, respectful, and very hospitable.
Connectivity: Airtel and Jio work best in major towns. In remote areas like Nongriat or Dawki, be prepared for patchy or zero network coverage.
Culture: Respect local customs. Do not litter, especially in pristine areas like Mawlynnong (Asia's cleanest village). Always ask for permission before photographing locals.
